I am currently a fifth-year Ph.D. student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Together with my advisor, Professor Marianne Winslett, I am investigating the systems and architectural aspects of trust negotiation, a technique for enabling scalable access control, trust management, and resource sharing in large-scale, heterogeneous open systems. Be sure to look at our research group's web page; much of my dissertation research takes place under the auspices of the TrustBuilder project.
I received a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with a minor in Applied Mathematics from Cornell University in 2003. In 2005, I received a Master's degree in Computer Science from UIUC. I expect to obtain my Ph.D. during the summer of 2008.
Next fall, I will join the Department of Computer Science at the University of Pittsburgh as an assistant professor.
If I'm not spending time with my wife Steph and our dogs, I enjoy playing sports, wood carving, cooking, and homebrewing beer. Over the last few years, I've also developed an interest in dog training. As a result, I take agility classes and teach introductory obedience at the Dog Training Club of Champaign-Urbana. Though nearly impossible to pursue in Champaign, I enjoy hiking, swimming, mountain biking, and SCUBA diving. Another interest of mine is live music; attending concerts and collecting tapes and CDs of taper-friendly bands is a hobby that I've had for some time.
